As I’m setting up right now for the LG forum liveblogging, but I wanted to take a second to express how charming downtown Lowell is. No surprise for those who, unlike me, actually get out of the city of Boston - and of course, those in Lowell. I realize that those actually from New England tend to be less enthralled with Industrial Revolution architecture than I, but people should put their accumulated connotations of mill buildings aside and continue to put serious thought into serious economic and urban development in the state’s second cities. Local officials of course make it a priority, but the suburb-Boston axis of state politics keeps this from gaining proper traction in gubernatorial debates, coverage, candidate statements, etc. Tim Murray, Worcester mayor, may have something to say today - how about any of the others?
