Funny how “meme” passed from a quasi-semiotic concept to an Internet parlor game. No matter. Both Chuck Tryon and Steve Garfield have invited readers to participate, and Francine’s listing her summer playlist, so I’ll play along….
Music on my hard drive:
Having no portable player or even a CD burner, I still haven’t entered the MP3 generation. Though somehow I’ve accumulated 725MB of music files, mostly out of print stuff, rarities, and samples from MP3 blogs. Why doesn’t some record company start marketing their back catalog?
The last CD I bought:
Spoon, Gimme Fiction. Though it was on vinyl.
Song playing right now:
Loud Family, Aeroderilia
Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
These desert island categories are the toughest to answer, so I’ll pick songs which are not only among my favorites, but which move me emotionally in some strange way, whether by mood, nostalgia or lyrics.
1. R.E.M., Life and How to Live It
2. Spoon, Fitted Shirt
3. Elastica, Never Here
4. Bats, It Had to Be You
5. Stereolab, Super Falling Star
Passing the torch onto:
Francine
Derek at Third Decade
Modern Kicks (if JL hasn’t done this already)
JP Confidential
Whoever wants to do this
