The Metro gives the Herald a taste of its own medicine with an above-the-fold headline about a Herald columnist involved in a shady arrangement with the Romney administration to promote its policies (if this was vetted by the State Ethics Commission, we need a new ethics commission).
Meanwhile, the Globe has the story, but buried in the City|Region section, nowhere on its front page. One look and it’s clear that the Metro story is a shorter version of the Globe piece — same phrases, same Bob Zellnick quote. I knew the Globe/NY Times Company had bought out the Metro, but I didn’t expect shared copy so soon.
The Herald’s been launching an editorially dubious war against the Metro since the Globe announced its interest in buying it. Now, it seems the big paper in town is willing to use the tabloid to fight its publishing battles without having to sully its image as the serious journalistic enterprise of the city.
