I realize the standards for lifestyle journalism are a bit more lax, but this has to be one of the most fucked up things I’ve read in a while.
“Lanky and slender is popular right now,” said Teen People entertainment editor Laura Morgan. “Jude Law is hot at the moment, Adam Brody is a huge crush for girls. I think it goes along with these sensitive, funny characters that girls love. The role is easier to pull off when you are skinny.”
Perhaps, but now that scrawny is sexy, will men be susceptible to eating disorders? After all, Kate Moss’ ultra-thin frame was the body that launched a thousand diet plans, with women chugging no-cal drinks, eating salads and hopping around to Denise Austin videos just to squeeze into a pair of size 0 jeans.
Men driven to eating disorders because Jude Law is making thin in again?! For that matter, any assessment of Jude Law as scrawny seems particularly bizarre. Odd inversion whereby those thinner than the previous standard for male stars are the considered pathological ones rather than the expectation that men be built for a rugby match.
