Semio-tots get award

Posted on Monday 19 April 2004

No surprise, but from various news outlets we find out that Brown University has been recognized as the best-dressed Ivy and Harvard the worst. I’ve long been impressed with the off-the-runway attire of the semiotics majors - and the generally relaxed comfort in style of the (less fashionista) rest of the campus. What’s surprising is that partisans of the other schools seem to contest Women’s Wear Daily’s verdict. Says one Harvard student quoted in the Globe, “I wish you could see me today. I’ve got a suit on, with a really snazzy tie.” I’m all for more formal attire, but that one would equate “really snazzy tie” with fashionability speaks volumes.

And as Schteino points out, the excuse that MA weathers are so rough as to require barn jackets doesn’t hold - Rhode Island isn’t that far south of here.
