Via Boston Common, I came across a local blog shilling for Bush-Cheney ‘04:
With ultra-liberal extremist groups like MoveOn.org expect to raise an unprecedented $420 million from “Limousine Liberals”. They’ll spend it on harsh negative ads and Get-Out-The-Vote efforts in key swing states.
The lying liberal media won’t tell you this: The Bush campaign is now badly outgunned when it comes to fundraising.
I don’t know where “badly outgunned” comes from. From Open Secrets, Bush-Cheney has $84,583,768 vs. Dean’s $25,387,493. Even if you add all of the Dems up, you get $92,903,804, which is not really an advantage considering that a) the organizational costs will be higher for 9 separate fundraising orgs, and b) these campaigns will have to spend their money in a competitive primary, while Bush and Cheney do not. For both these reasons current cash in hand is Bush Cheney $73.5M v. Dem candidates $39.5M.
And if you think these numbers are propaganda from a lying liberal media, you can check out the Federal Election Commission: here’s Bush’s quarterly statement showing $50.0M net of expenses, and here’s Dean’s for comparison (14.2M net). Both left and right have their own persecution complexes, but it’s best to save them for nebulous matters where numbers won’t trip you up.
